Kashmir awareness seminar was organised here at international Mevlana Anadolu İmam-hatip lisesi on Friday. Expert on Kashmir affairs and columnist, Umair Pervez Khan addressed the large gathering of the
international students. He was of the point of view that since 1947, 95000 kashmiris have been martyred by occupational Indian force and more than 23000 women are widowed.
Explaining the atrocities committed by Indian Army, he said that more than 11000 women are raped and 6000 plus youngsters have been hit by pellets, most of them losing their eyesight. He further added that Kashmir is the matter of right to self determination and must not be viewed as
the territorial dispute between India and Pakistan. He welcomed the statement by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan in Pakistani Parliament and thanked him for his country’s unshakable support.
Replying to a question Khan replied that Kashmir is democratic movement and it must not be connected to any religious or nationalist identity.
All kashmiris irrespective to their religion and caste have the right
to decide about their future. Their sacrifices will not go in vain and United Nations should fulfill it’s promise of free and fair plebiscite in the region. Post 5 August, 2019 situation is worsening and curfew by Indian state is unprecedented in the history.the special status of the occupied Kashmir was reversed by illegal means which is not acceptable by Kashmiris.
