MIRPUR (AJK): Azad Jammu & Kashmir Prime Minister Raja Farooq Haider Khan Wednesday tendered his apology for his recently uttered alleged derogatory remarks against his own ruling party’s elderly leader and former President and Prime Minister of AJK Sardar Sikandar Hayat Khan as well as some of the women of the State.
Expressing his views in Azad Jammu Kashmir Legislative Assembly which met in the State’s metropolis on Wednesday, he said it was highly deplorable that conversations of private parties or on telephone were being monitored and recorded and even the Prime Minister was not spared of it, he added.
He observed that the society (people) in Azad Jammu Kashmir were getting narrow minded. “We should show broad mindedness”, he suggested.
Farooq Haider reiterated that he always respect every one including women. He said “he knows many of the politicians who had allegedly been involved in scandals in the past but he would not talk on them”.Recounting his three-year period’s performance, the AJK Prime Minister said it was crystal clear that we did really well.
Referring to the recent written test examination against the vacant posts for local government board department in AJK where in the allegations of use of unfair means have been framed, the Prime Minister assured the house that strict action would be taken against the defaulters.
The Prime Minister said advertisements appear in national and local newspapers for appointment of various posts in AJK. “We want to facilitate state newspapers with the due govt. advts. more”, he stated.
He said that the issue of the much-delayed payments of the dues of the newspaper owners against the published govt. advertisements appeared in the national and state newspapers against various departments, was also being resolved.
Farooq Haider said that he believed that open merit system was better than quota system.
The Prime Minister claimed that principle of merit was being strictly observed in AJK in the due course of inductions and promotions in the public sector functionaries for last three years since the incumbent government came into power in AJK.
Dispelling the impression that he was a dictator in the party, Haider said that he was more democratic. “It was why one of his cabinet members brought resolution in the house against him”, he concluded.
