Kuala Lumpur: Prime Minister of Malaysia Mahathir Mohamad has said there are strong and deep relations between Malaysia and Pakistan, saying that both the countries can benefit through bilateral trade and existing cooperation between both the countries can be enhanced and ways of relations can be opened wherein the interests of both the countries exist.
Being a chief guest, while addressing the 32nd International Achievement Award Ceremony of Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce and Industry held at Kuala Lumpur on Tuesday, Mahathir Mohamad said that it is first ever ceremony of any chamber in Malaysia.
Prime Minister of Malaysia Mahathir Mohamad has said that it is honour for him to participate in the 32nd international achievement award ceremony of Rawalpindi chamber of commerce and Industry.
He said that Malaysia has strong and deep relations with Pakistan, saying that there are many fields between both the countries wherein the existing cooperation can be enhanced and ways of relations can be opened wherein the interests of both the countries exist.
He said that they came to know the capabilities of both the countries after the agreement of 2007, saying that there exist many potentialities in both the countries. He said that Pakistan made progress in many fields.
He said that the population of Malaysia is 32 million while the population of Pakistan is 210 million, saying that they (Malaysia) invented many things and they (Pakistan) can also consider it.
Mahathir Mohamad further said that Pakistan can take benefit in the fields of Engineering, Research, Commerce and Agriculture while Malaysia can get sea food from Pakistan in bilateral trade. He said that Pakistan can get much from Malaysia, saying that bilateral trade can be enhanced if both the countries worked hard.
He said that Pakistan made progress in manufacturing aeroplanes while Malaysia is ahead in the field of manufacturing cars.
While addressing the ceremony, president of Rawalpindi chamber of commerce and Industry, Malik Shahid Saleem said that it is honour for them that the hero of entire Muslim Ummah Mahathir Mohamad participated in the ceremony. He said that they have set up different working groups which will work on different matters, saying that new dimensions of cooperation in different fields will open in both the countries.
While addressing the ceremony, group leader Sohail Altaf said that the Proto car manufacturing company in Malaysia will start its production in Pakistan in 2020.
